The Israel Diamond Institute (IDI)
The Israel Diamond Institute Group (IDI) is the umbrella organization of The Israeli Diamond Industry. The IDI is a non-profit, public interest group of companies, which undertakes key essential functions for the industry: marketing, business promotion and public relations; technological R&D; promotion of rough sources; professional training; publishing professional literature, and security consultancy. IDI is also responsible for the groundbreaking brand identity for the industry under the slogan “The Israeli Diamond Industry – All you could ask for in one.” The brand reflects the Israeli Industry’s multiple strategic advantages, and its standing as a leading world diamond center. IDI Companies: The IDI Group is comprised of several vital and dynamic companies, each one responsible for promoting a different aspect of the industry’s activities. Together, they work to ensure that Israel remains one of the world’s leading diamond manufacturing and trading centers. The Israel Diamond Technology Center (IDT) The IDI channels a sizable portion of its resources into R&D, geared to reducing production costs, improving yield and make, and increasing output .The Israel Diamond Technology Center (IDT) – a fully-owned subsidiary of the Institute – is responsible for centralizing and supervising all stages of R&D project planning and implementation. Working in close contact with the country's major academic institutes and private industry, IDT identifies viable technologies and techniques, regulates the guidelines for research and introduction of new diamond technologies, and initiates joint ventures. The Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum showcases the achievements of Israel’s diamond industry, offering visitors a multi-faceted diamond experience, while combining the fields of science, art and industry. Located in the heart of the diamond complex, it is a cultural and educational center that attracts thousands of visitors annually. The museum has recently been redesigned and upgraded to become completely interactive. IDI – New York, IDI's first international representative office, is located in the heart of the New York diamond district, at 576 5th Avenue. The office promotes trade in Israeli diamonds throughout the United States, and facilitates connections between American buyers and Israeli diamond traders, especially those who do not have their own offices in New York. IDI Asia Pacific Ltd. opened its doors for business in July 2007 as part of the IDI's overall marketing strategy for the region. The Hong Kong office is geared to serving Israeli diamond companies, as well as importers in Hong Kong, China and the general region. It assists Israeli diamantaires to bridge the cultural and language gaps, and advises them on business opportunities. The office initiates promotional activities – organizing conferences and seminars as well as telemarketing and public relations projects – geared to promoting trade between Israel and Hong Kong, China and other regional markets. WGI – The World Gemological Institute is IDI's gemological laboratory, which was originally established in 1977. Following considerable upgrading, it is now expanding its cutting-edge services worldwide. The renovated lab is geared to providing high-standard, world-class service. It has been outfitted with the most advanced instruments, and has hired a team of highly professional gemologists. In addition, it is involved in joint research projects with the University of Arizona and Israel's Technion, one of the world's leading academic institutions in the fields of science and high-tech. Now in a running-in period, the lab is expected to be officially opened shortly. |
